Is the Geely Monjaro L Better Than the Tiguan in Winter? 2026 Cold-Weather Specs Compared
Monjaro L vs Tiguan for cold markets: AWD system, heated seats and steering, snow mode, tyres and ground geometry. What importers in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus should check.

Short answer: for winter markets the right Monjaro L — a 2025 or 2026 Flagship with on-demand AWD — offers the cold-weather features importers expect from a Volkswagen Tiguan: all-wheel drive, a snow mode, heated seats and steering. The difference is in the details, and in price. We have not run instrumented winter tests ourselves; this comparison uses manufacturer data for the Monjaro L and points you to what to check on the Tiguan you compete with in your market.
Which Monjaro L trims have all-wheel drive?
Only two: the 2026 2.0T 8AT Flagship (272 hp, 400 N·m) and the 2025 2.0T 8AT Flagship (238 hp, 350 N·m). Both use an on-demand system with a multi-plate clutch, a 62-litre tank instead of 55 litres, and an off-road drive mode on top of the snow mode every Monjaro L has. All hybrid and DCT trims are front-wheel drive.
The Tiguan is sold with 4MOTION all-wheel drive in many markets, but availability depends on engine and region. When you compare, match like with like: AWD against AWD, and similar power.
How do the cold-weather features compare?
| Feature | Monjaro L 2026 Flagship AWD | What to check on the Tiguan |
|---|---|---|
| Drive | On-demand AWD, multi-plate clutch | 4MOTION availability for your engine |
| Drive modes | Snow, off-road, sport, eco, comfort, custom | Snow/off-road modes by trim |
| Heated front seats | Standard (all Monjaro L trims) | Standard or optional by trim |
| Heated steering wheel | Standard | Trim-dependent |
| Heated rear seats | Standard | Trim-dependent |
| Tyres | 245/45 R20 | Size affects winter-tyre cost |
| Fuel tank | 62 L | Range between fuel stops |
Heated front seats come on every Monjaro L. Heated steering and heated rear seats are standard on the 2026 hybrid Premium and Flagship and the 2026 8AT Premium and Flagship; on the 2025 model and several 2026 entry trims they were an optional heating package in China, so confirm the exact build when you order.
What about ground clearance and wheels?
The Monjaro L has 19-degree approach and departure angles and comes on 19- or 20-inch wheels. Twenty-inch rims look good in a showroom, but winter tyres in 245/45 R20 cost more than 235/50 R19. For fleets in snowy regions, a 19-inch trim plus a dedicated winter set is often the more economical choice.
Does the hybrid work in cold weather?
The Monjaro L hybrid is a self-charging HEV, so there is no charging in the cold to worry about; the engine and regenerative braking keep the battery charged. Expect fuel use to rise in deep winter, as with any car. If AWD is a must, choose the 2.0T Flagship — no Monjaro L hybrid has all-wheel drive.
So which should an importer stock for winter markets?
- 2026 2.0T 8AT Flagship AWD — the strongest winter package and the newest cabin.
- 2025 Flagship AWD — similar hardware with the 238 hp engine; supplied from stock, often at a lower price.
- Front-wheel-drive hybrids — for city fleets where winter roads are cleared.
